Huntington Story

Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, in Barstow, California, a resident was involved in a gun accident. Janice Jones, 53, was in the back of her motorhome when her dog handgun onto the floor and it shot a bullet into her leg and the side of the vehicle.
Jones was eating pork chops in her motorhome parked on Beach Boulevard when her dog knocked her 9 mm handgun off a chair. The gun discharged when it hit the floor.
"It could have been worse," California Highway Patrol press liaison Tammy Rye said. "The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank."
Officers cited Jones for expired plates, and possible charges for owning a gun without a permit and animal abuse. Tombo was taken to the Huntington Beach animal control officers to be cared for after the incident.
"The dog seemed to be malnourished and had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead," animal control officer Janet Ngo said. “It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops.”
