Using The 'Holocaust' Metaphor
In 2003, PETA started a campaign called "Holocaust on Your Plate". PETA released images of animals in slaughterhouse and compared them to Nazi concentration camps. In 2003, PETA was sued for the campaign by the Central Council of Jews in Germany. I think the "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign is offensive because it is very distasteful to compare the murder of 6 million people to the slaughter of animals. Although people people may have strong opinions about the meat industry and their morals, it is highly offensive to those involved, to use the Holocaust metaphor to promote a campaign.

Aaargh! Pirates! (And the Press)
Pop-Rock band, The Ting Tings' album was leaked online almost a month before the release date. Because of the leak, the band likely lost thousands of dollars due to people listening to the music for free instead of buying it. In similar situations where an artist's music is leaked somewhere, media outlets will report on the leak and sometimes even include a link to the leaked music. I think this is not ethical because they are giving the leak more attention and less people will buy the real thing if more people are exposed to the free version. I think this is like plagiarism because the artist probably spent lots of time creating the songs, and by news sources sharing the unofficial versions, they are not getting the credit they deserve.

When Sources Won't Talk
When a thug and gangsta- themed party was thrown by a fraternity and sorority were thrown at Marshall University, the former editor of the school newspaper was outraged. She wrote a letter about about how she thought the party and pictures posted were displaying light-hearted racism. The letter was published without getting any information from people who attended the party. I don't think the letter should have been published without getting any information from the people involved. It would have been acceptable if they published a story after getting quotes from other students, or getting more proof and evidence, but it was unfair to publish the opinionated letter without having proof of the sorority and fraternity's intentions.
