I like this photo because it symbolizes how our country has become less tolerant to racism by removing the confederate statues.




This photo is important because it shows the violence and protests this year. Even with protesters carrying signs promoting peace, love, and unity, there is and act of violence.




This picture is important this year because it shows the problems with climate change, and how relevant it is with Donald Trump being in office.



Song:

I chose "Redbone" by Childish Gambino because it appeals to a large audience that includes people who normally listen to pop music and people who like alternative music or rap music. I think it is one of the few popular songs this year that has not been overplayed too much and is still fun to listen to. It has a funkadelic sound that is unique from most pop music today.



Movie:

I think Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" was the best movie of 2017 because of it's the history and emotion shown in it. The different story lines within the movie were very entertaining, and even for someone who doesn't usually enjoy movies about war, I chose this as my top pick of 2017.



News Story:

 Democrats win Alabama State Senate Seat after Roy Moore Controversy
This was important because after Trump endorsed alleged sex offender Roy Moore, Democrat Doug Jones won the election. Roy Moore promotes racism, sexism and homophobia, and Jones won with the help of a large turnout of black female voters. He was the first democrat elected into Senate in Alabama in 25 years.



Person:

People in the #MeToo Movement were the most important because it let women speak out about being harassed, especially when men in Hollywood were being accused of sexual assault.




Sports Person:

I chose Colin Kaepernick as the most important person of the year because he started the movement  of kneeling during the National Anthem in response to police brutality and racism. The protest got support from many but also criticism from people including Trump. The movement spoke up for black Americans.


1. I went to visit my family in Galveston and Houston.

2. A resolution I have for 2018 is to read more books and be more organized.

3. I am looking forward to new music in 2018.
