My Favorite Cover


"Baby Emilie was 9 minutes old when Thierry Bouët photographed her for a series on babies in the first hour of their lives. New York used the photo—along with a fresh and fun type treatment—to great effect in its amusing, and affecting, “Health”-issue cover."

 I chose this as my favorite magazine cover because it is very eye catching. Many of the other covers were adults posing in a formal setting, but I have never seen a magazine cover like this. I also like how much of the cover the baby's face takes up. I think the way it fills the frame makes it more effective. The words coming out of its mouth is very creative and interesting. I like how the cover overall is simple and there aren't too many different colors and elements. If I walked past this magazine I would defiantly look at this one first.

   Going to church on Christmas and Easter was always an expectation in my family. Crosses of assorted colors and sizes covered the walls of my grandmother's house. I can't think of a time where we didn't say grace before a meal. For as long as I can remember, religion has been a large part of my family, but I've never been able to truly connect with the the prayers and things said in Church.    I remember my mom always trying to get me to go to church with her, then I would make up excuses to get out of going. While I know going to Church it is very important to some people, I have never felt the need to go or understood why it was so necessary. One time my mom told me she felt like she didn't do a good job of raising my sister and I because of our lack of religiousness.
